Painted Trak Ranch’s Starving Artist
Wherever I am on our ranch, I see beauty, wonder and humor. From our dining room, I can watch the sun rise over the prairies and set behind the mountains. I can watch the changing weather and keep an eye on the resident eagles, hawks and deer. As I walk or drive around the ranch to do chores, I photograph the details of my surroundings.
While I share many of my photographs with friends on-line, I want to do more with the images. I am now processing my images on transparent film, which I adhere to plywood. The grain of the wood can be seen through the image, creating complimentary patterns. To finish it off, I hand-make frames from 90% recycled wood and back them with colourful fabric.
While most of the images are my own, some are from friends who have commissioned me to create pieces using their own photographs. Each piece is unique due to the variation in the materials used. That is what I love most about this technique.
